Tour 1: Free Drummers

Guide: Bradley DuFour

View More: http://mchambard.pass.us/c-tour

One of the greatest benefits of Chico, is the creative, vibrant, and musically established culture which knows no limits in artistic or musical genres. Chico’s music scene doesn’t just take part on the stages of its venues, it’s everywhere–in the outdoor markets, in downtown plaza, in Bidwell Park, and even on the sidewalks. The goal of this tour is to offer the participant an experience of this limitless music scene by hitting the streets together as a one-time band of “free-drummers.” With a pair of drumsticks and a bucket for each participant, we will set up drum circles and perform in multiple areas of downtown Chico, while mapping the different acoustic sounds we create from our mobile drum ensemble. We will meet at the University Art Gallery building on the Chico State campus on Tuesday, March 22nd at 12:00 noon, and will end at 1:30PM back at the UAG. The duration of this tour will be 1.5 hours, covering 0.5 miles, and is limited to 5 participants. Join our band, The Free-Drummers, as we go on a musically-experimental quest for which urban and natural sounds are the best.

C-Tours are designed by CSUC art students and offered in conjunction with the show “Performance Space/Play Space” at the University Art Gallery, CSUC campus Trinity 100.

Do you have a go-to brew you can never pass up? That’s fine! Because it will all aid us in rediscovering the town we call home.

Tour 3: A Tour of Your Senses

Guide: Dylan St. Germain

How perceptive and attentive are you in life? What if you were blindfolded and asked to determine where you are based on your knowledge of, perception of physical space and what your body tells you, through something your senses experience related to that place? At the beginning of the tour, each participant will be blindfolded and asked to grab onto a rope. Four senses will be explored during our tour; touch, smell, hearing, and sight. A longer time will be spent walking “there” than being “there.” One of the things you will focus on is what you can gather from the walk. Did you notice anything that could help you find out where we went?  Please wear closed-toe shoes as a safety measure.

C-Tours are designed by CSUC art students and offered in conjunction with the show “Performance Space/Play Space” at the University Art Gallery, CSUC campus Trinity 100.

Tour 6: Memory Tour

Guide: Tiffany Dover

IMG_4524

How do we share our memories with one another? Memory ties us to familiar places and people, it also tells us a story. The Memory Tour is a walking tour/game that involves all participants finding and collecting scattered memories through puzzle solving and teamwork. Participants must rely on one another’s skill sets to complete the objective: solve puzzles and riddles to locate the objective and collect items to complete the game.

Participants will need to bring clipboards or something firm to write on. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes, something you wouldn’t mind getting dirty. This tour is not suitable for anyone unable to walk or stand for long periods of time. Please dress accordingly for changes in weather.

C-Tours are designed by CSUC art students and offered in conjunction with the show “Performance Space/Play Space” at the University Art Gallery, CSUC campus Trinity 100.

Tour 7: The Chico Creek You Can’t See From the Street

Guide: Natalie Gast

View More: http://mchambard.pass.us/c-tour

Come! explore the part of Big Chico Creek
you can’t see from the street
or your car,
it’s not very far.
We’ll float model boats down this creek,
if the management won’t freak.
And wherever it beaches
we’ll record what it teaches.
Please take lots of notes,
and pictures of the model boats.
We’ll explore where the boats lead us.

We will use little handmade model boats as our tour guides. We will follow them and create stopping places where we reflect and record our journey. Recorded on a master map, each participant will draw an interpretive narrative about their boat’s journey. Each story will create a map of observation.

Restrictions:  There might be mud! So, bring appropriate shoes and clothing.

C-Tours are designed by CSUC art students and offered in conjunction with the show “Performance Space/Play Space” at the University Art Gallery, CSUC campus Trinity 100.
