Juror: Lauren Mackler

Lauren Mackler is a French /American Curator and Designer based in Los Angeles.

In 2010, Mackler launched Public Fiction, a multi-platform exhibition forum that stages exhibitions and performances by contemporary Los Angeles artists. Working with a particular theme, Mackler collaborates with artists and institutions, organizing 3-month long exhibitions that culminate in a publication.

Mackler has taught at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles and lectured at numerous schools and institutions including the Getty Institute in Los Angeles, L’École Supérieur d’Art Appliqués Annecy in France, the Indaba Conference for Design in South Africa, New York University, the Rhode Island School of Design, The California Institute of Art, and Brown University. She has organized exhibitions in Milan, Paris, New York, Tokyo and Los Angeles, including the group exhibition Set Pieces, at Cardi Black Box in Milan, Treating Shadows as Real Things an installation of nine Los Angeles artists in the Church of the Holy Shroud, Turin, during Artissima 19 and an exhibition / performance series at the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles on the occasion of the Transmissions LA: AV Club. Most recently, she organized the exhibition The Poet and The Critic, and the missing at MOCA Los Angeles. In 2015-16, Mackler was a Rome Prize Fellow in Design at the American Academy in Rome for 2015-16.

The Annual Juried Student Art Show features works submitted by Chico State art students and selected by a guest juror. A highly anticipated event, the exhibition presents an impressive range of approaches, concepts, and media, including ceramics, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and digital media.
