Chris Sollars
DAAAM
November 1 – December 16, 2016
Artist talk: Thursday, November 3, 5:30pm, Arts and Humanities 111, followed by a reception in the University Art Gallery
Chris Sollars is an interdisciplinary artist, whose practice revolves around the reclamation of public space through interventions and performance. Juxtaposing dissimilar elements, objects, and materials, Sollars explores absurdist opportunities in the public realm to generate unexpected outcomes. The humor-filled results are documented through photographs, sculpture and video, and integrated into mixed media installations. DAAAM surveys Sollars’ recent investigations into themes of water and includes a newly commissioned work incorporating the Oroville Dam. What is the relationship between a dam and a river? A dam and a drought?
